Tips on how to be a success in life
Who wants to be a millionaire, lets be honest is it all that its cracked up to be? Can success be measured by the amount of money and power that a person has? At Hope Café last month we asked ourselves this question. Money is so important to some people they will do anything to get it. Some ideas that people use to get rich quick include- • Winning the lottery of course, but unfortunately the odds of winning are worse than the chance of being struck by lightening! • Invest in property? Sorry missed the boat on that one my friend since the property crash. • More risky enterprises might include- robbing a bank. OK highly illegal and could land you behind bars but for some the love of money leads them up this path. • Finally, if all else fails and love of money is so strong how about… selling a body part! The lengths people will go to for riches. It is interesting that with all this emphasis on money and all the material things it could buy one would think it would make us all much happier. However, a BBC survey found that people in Britain are less happy today than in the 1950s. Perhaps money is not fulfilling all human beings need? In fact money and getting rich quick can be very bad for you. Look at William “Bud’ Post who won $16.2 million in a USA lottery in 1988. Being a nice chap he gave some money to his family but they were not very friendly and his brother hired a hit man to kill him, his girlfriend sued him and others used his money in failed business.
Rob Parsons in his book ‘Heart of Success’ says, “no one on his deathbed ever wished they had spent more time at the office”. Some tips include: 1. Don’t just settle for money- relationships need time and nurture 2. Believe in the work you do- find a job you like or can see how it makes a difference to the world. 3. Believe in the power of dreams. Don’t give up on yours! 4. Put family before career Jesus said the love of money is the root of all evil. For inner peace and a full life, seek God for the answer for a successful life. Someone asked one of the richest men in the world once, ‘how money do you need to make you happy?’ He answered, ‘Just a little more!”
